CHARITIES SUPPORTED - Additional information

The following is some additional information about the charities currently supported by The Plant Yard

Conscious of the words of Our Lord:

“Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.”

“Whoever gives you a cup of water to drink in my name, because you belong to Christ, will surely not lose his reward.”

Christian Blind Mission

CBM Australia is part of a Christian international development organisation devoted to improving the lives of people with disabilities in the poorest places on earth. Poverty and disability go hand in hand, creating a cycle of inequality, isolation and exclusion that leads to the most extreme forms of poverty.

Throughout our 115-year history and over 45 years in Australia, we have developed proven community-based programs that help millions of people benefit from real, lasting change.

CBM Australia understands the impact donations – big or small – can have on individuals and communities, which is why we make sure every dollar donated goes towards driving positive change in the lives of those who need it the most living in low income countries around the world.

We are registered as a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) with the Australian Tax Office, meaning we are able to accept tax deductible donations and gifts through our website.

World Vision

Join the everyday Australians who’ve partnered with World Vision Australia and helped to change the lives of nearly 15 million children globally. Your generosity creates the kind of change that can last for generations and feels incredible to be part of.

The global impact of world vision in 2024
- 14.6 million children in child sponsorship programs
- 35.2 million people, helped in emergencies
- 13.5 million were helped with emergency food and cash
- 3.1 million people gained access to clean water

Your sponsorship helps children thrive. As a sponsor, you help transform a child’s world. That’s because you support community-led projects that focus on the essentials needed for bright futures. Every place is different, but projects can focus on education, family incomes, health, clean water or food and agriculture.

Join the everyday Australians who are changing children’s lives through World Vision Child Sponsorship.

Vanimo PNG Twin House Charity Project

In response to the charism given to the Institute of the Incarnate Word, and with the approval of the Catholic Church and the generous support of the Bishop of the Diocese of Vanimo, Most Rev. Francis Mel, the IVE missionaries in Vanimo, together with the SSVM Sisters (Servants of the Lord and the Virgin of Matará) and our lay collaborators, have begun a new apostolate of care for those most in need.

This mission is focused on those who are often forgotten or rejected by society — men, women and children living with profound disabilities, those suffering from serious or terminal illness, and those who have no one to care for them.

My relationship with this mission started with my fondness of the country of Argentina and Chile when I rode a bicycle through both countries over 37 years ago, eventually culminating with the meeting and marrying of my Argentine wife with whom I now have 3 sons. This mission is staffed and run by Catholic Argentine Missionaries and following a chance encounter with one of their nuns in Brisbane Airport 2024, my support of the mission with material and financial support began.
