DO NOT Store Oxygen & Acetylene Cylinders Together!
Oxygen and acetylene safety practices are extremely important when using for welding and more importantly, storing the gas cylinders. Whilst welding it is required for both gas cylinders to be contained within an oxy/acetylene trolley. However, when work is complete, storing oxygen and acetylene cylinders together is an incorrect and dangerous practice. To comply with Section 4.4 of AS4332-2004 - The storage and handling of gases in cylinders one must store oxygen and acetylene cylinders seperately. Acetylene and other Class 2.1 flammable gases must be stored 3 metres apart from Class 2.2 non-flammable oxidising gases such as oxygen. The best way to store your oxy and acetylene cylinders separately is to use two gas cylinder storage cages.
Our gas cylinder storage cages for hire can reduce many risks to the oxygen and acetylene gas cylinders such as; decomposition from sunlight, acetone and acetylene separation from lying flat, falling and exploding from dropping or vehicle impact.
The important key notes from AS4332-2004 - The storage and handling of gases in cylinders in regards to acetylene gas and oxygen gas cylinder storage are they must be stored:
