The Importance And Application of Dewatering Pumps

Use During Ground Excavation

During excavations, the surface can be impacted due to the water table. Especially during periods of excessive rain, the water tables become elevated. The use of large submersible water pumps for dewatering can lower the water table. This allows excavation and construction to continue within a dry environment. This, in turn, prevents ground subsidence (the sinking or caving in of soil). The use of our sediment tanks can also assist in the discharge of water offsite.

To Dry & Firm The Soil

Dewatering with grindex pumps below the surface can dry the topsoil. Which in turn, results in a firmer soil and making it much more suitable for construction works. Dry soil is much more stable and reduces sediment runoff.

Providing A Dry Basement

If not suitably managed, groundwater can cause many headaches for excavation and basement construction. Especially in Sydney, where the water table is already quite high. Nuisance seepage slows construction operations, major inflows can cause instability, inundation and even collapse of the excavation. By using the grindex minex submersible pump and lowering the water table, there will be no water seepage through the surrounding soil or rock.

Increase Safety On Your Worksite

Wet and muddy soil produces unsafe working conditions for workers. Causing workers to trip, machines to get bogged whilst also obstructing certain tasks. The excess of water can also damage electrical appliances, whilst increasing the risk of electricity-related accidents.
