Flood water Discharge Solutions on Construction Sites

A sediment tank should be an important part of flood water discharge solutions on any construction site

Flood water discharge solutions

Before water can be released from a construction site into stormwater systems or nearby waterways, it must first be tested for things like turbidity, odour, and potential contaminants. Discharging untreated water can lead to serious fines for environmental harm, so treatment is essential.

Available for hire

At The Plant Yard, we have sediment tanks available for hire, also known as settlement tanks or bins. These tanks are a practical addition to any construction site flood water management plan, particularly when your project is impacted by heavy rainfall or when working near high groundwater levels. They provide an effective and cost-efficient way to manage dewatering, especially when the water contains suspended solids.

Key benefits

Our sediment tanks are designed for easy installation and efficient desludging after storm events. Thanks to their size and mobility, they are well-suited to sites with limited space. It may also be possible to have room enough for several sediment tanks operating at once on a site.

In addition to removing solids, sediment tanks can assist with hydrocarbon separation and function as holding tanks for liquids. This helps prevent harmful discharges of oil, fuel, silt, or dirty water into surrounding waterways—protecting both the environment and your site from costly EPA penalties.

Supporting equipment

We also carry a wide selection of dewatering pumps and hoses to complement our tanks. Options include puddle pumps, sump pumps, submersible pumps, booster pumps, plus single-phase and three-phase water pumps. Both 2-inch and 3-inch lay-flat hoses are available. Using our pumps in combination with sediment tanks ensures your flooded worksite can be brought back to operating condition quickly and efficiently.
